Frequently Asked Questions

  1. How Much room does the Sheriff or deputy require?

Sheriff: The machine itself measures 72 inches long and 44 inches wide. An additional 36 inches in length should be allocated if a right or left turn is required.
Deputy: The Deputy measures 40 inches long and 44” wide.

  1. How can you help me with the exit (or the area of the exit)?

The principal in using our products is to create a secure zone in your store whereby the only means of exit is to pass by a cashier. If there are open areas around the exit, then a strategic placement of railing can typically be placed in order to reduce the risk of theft.

  1. What’s the customer’s general reaction after the installation?

Customers do not even consciously know that they are entering a turnstile as it becomes a subconscious action. For the average consumer the welcome greeting detracts the attention of the consumer from the movement of the bar. The thief, on the other hand, is immediately sensitized that the store has them under surveillance, causing them to think twice about committing a crime.

  1. Are there other retailers in my area that have the Integral system?

Integral has numerous installations and would be pleased to provide references.

  1. What if the fire alarm is activated? How does the system react?

The system can be purchased with the Fall-away arm option. The system then will be connected to the fire panel. When it receives an active signal from the fire panel, the arms fall-away automatically in the direction of egress, leaving a clear passage to exit the store.

  1. What happens in the event of a power failure?

The system arms will fall away automatically in the direction of egress, leaving a clear passage to exit the store.

  1. Can you put it in the vestibule?

No. This is not recommended.

  1. Won’t my sales decrease because I’m placing this barrier at the entrance?

It is our experience that installation of the equipment will only have a positive impact on sales. It offers the consumer a sense of security and confidence that they are entering an area that is attended to and monitored for their safety.

  1. What is the nature of the alarm when someone tries to exit through the entrance?

The alarm has three components. First there is a red light that flashes. Secondly there is a high pitch sound that beeps intermittently. Thirdly there is an audible voice track that advises the consumer to “please return to the inside of the store, this is not an exit”.

  1. I am presently locking the entrance at night. Is this still necessary?

No. The Integral Security products act as a virtual security guard at your entrance. It allows your store entrance to be fully functional at all hours of operation, with the assurance that it is protected from shoplifting.
